After 40 years of dedicated service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor John Surridge, the British Union Conference (BUC) Executive Secretary, has announced his retirement. The official retirement date is set for 8 July 2024.
Pastor Surridge's tenure has been characterised by unwavering commitment, efficiency, leadership, and a profound dedication to the Seventh-day Adventist community in the United Kingdom and beyond. Throughout his years of service, he has left an indelible mark on the organisation, guiding it through various challenges and successes.
As the BUC Executive Secretary, Pastor Surridge played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the BUC, overseeing administrative matters, and fostering a spirit of togetherness among the diverse constituencies within the Union. His passion for mission and his deep-rooted faith have inspired countless individuals and contributed significantly to the growth and development of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland.
The announcement of Pastor Surridge's retirement signifies the beginning of a new chapter in his life journey, one that will undoubtedly be filled with new opportunities and experiences. Alongside him on this journey is his wife, Moira, who has been a steadfast source of support and encouragement throughout his ministry.
While Pastor Surridge and Moira embark on this new chapter, the BUC Executive Committee remains committed to ensuring a seamless leadership transition. The Committee will diligently work to elect a successor who will carry forward the role of the Executive Secretary and continue to advance the BUC's Strategic Plan. An official announcement regarding the new Executive Secretary will be made as soon as the election process is completed.
