The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Britain and Ireland has been a consultant/observer at the British Council of Churches since at least 1979. When Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI) was formed the Seventh-day Adventist Church continued as observers. Currently, two representatives from the British Union attend the annual national meetings of CTBI. Representatives from the Church have served on the committee dealing with alcohol and drugs. The church is also represented at Churches together in England where it has observer status as well as at national level in Wales. A number of Seventh-day Adventist churches are involved with Churches Together on a local level and we are supportive of various aspects of their work.
Our Adventist World Church website gives more information on Adventist Relationships with other Christian Churches and Religious Organisations.
Adventists practice open communion and welcome guests from all faiths - or those searching for faith. We see ourselves as pilgrims on a spiritual journey. For a view of how other see us when they visit an Adventist church see: Myrto visits Bury St Edmnds, 'Soul Search' visits a baptism in Edinburgh, Christopher a self-described 'off beat Christian Theologian' meets Adventists in North Carolina, while Christopher Knight proclaims in his blog, "It's not Saturday worship, it's Sabbath worship!"
