Who We Are

Adventists have much in common with all Christians. We share the belief that salvation is only through Jesus Christ, and that the Bible is God's inspired revelation.

For Adventists, these convictions are central and important. They come at the top of our list of core beliefs. Yet we are committed to some biblical concepts and practices that give Adventists a distinctive, perhaps unique, identity.

These include the celebration of the Seventh-day Sabbath, an ancient practice that goes right back to God's command at the creation of the world. Sabbath-keeping honours God's creative acts as well as the freedom God offers us to live life to its fullest.

We also live in anticipation of a soon return of Jesus Christ. This anticipation of his promised "advent" make us people of hope. It helps us to find meaning in even the most challenging of situations.

These core beliefs are summarised in our name, Seventh-day Adventists.
