The North England Conference 2024 Camp Meeting, which began yesterday (Wednesday 29th May) at the Yarnfield Park Training and Conference Centre, is themed "In His Steps: Forward We Go!" Delegates, including online viewers, will be privy to many discussions that will, as Pastor George Kumi, NEC President, said in the opening ceremony, "guide us on a spiritual journey."
Walking around the Yarnfield complex, delegates can be seen moving between various programs. Adults, youth, teens, and children are all catered for, with sessions designed to stimulate thinking and reflect on the steps of Jesus.
There is excitement even in the small details, such as not needing to provide your own food. At Yarnfield, there is no need for a big shop or carrying your pots and pans, as the conference centre provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner, allowing more time to attend sessions.
A new addition to Camp Meeting this year gives the youth and teens the opportunity to go off-site and participate in various activities, while the adults delve into deeper topics. Highlights include a focus on health presented by Dr Beatrice Kastrati, a session on women's issues by Eld Beulah Plunkett, encouraging women to build a sisterhood for life-changing conversations and wisdom-sharing, and a presentation on Muslim relations by Pastor Ikwisa Mwasumbi. Additionally, Pastor Leslie Ackie shared invaluable insights on balancing family priorities.
It is exciting to see Camp Meeting unfold for another year. Over the next few days, friendships will be forged, hearts will be changed, and learning will take place. Whether listening in on a workshop, attending a counseling session, or visiting the Adventist Book Centre, this smaller but intimate Camp Meeting looks to provide attendees with just what they need.
Each day, look out for a post bringing you the latest from Camp Meeting 2024.
