The Irish Mission Women's Ministries Retreat 2023 at the Horse and Jockey Hotel in Tipperary was a profound experience of worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth. From Friday to Sunday, our hearts were filled with joy and our spirits were uplifted as we came together to worship, learn, and grow in our faith. I am immensely grateful to all the coordinators, speakers, and participants who made this event a memorable one. There were about 70 women who attended this blessed weekend camp. I want to extend a heartfelt and special thanks to Lillian Cooper and Zodwa Lenihan for all their hard work and dedication in making this retreat a resounding success. Let the lessons learned and the connections made continue to flourish in our hearts as we carry the light of Christ forward.
Friday: A Heartwarming Welcome
The retreat began on Friday afternoon with the opening of the check-in desk at 3:00 PM, where our dedicated coordinators, Lillian and Zodwa, warmly welcomed everyone. At 6:00 PM, the registration desk was opened by Zodwa and Shiro, ensuring that every participant felt at home.
The evening program commenced at 8:00 PM with a beautiful Song Service led by our Praise Team, setting the tone for the weekend's worship. Omina Tshabangu led us in a heartfelt prayer, followed by more songs of praise. A warm welcome was extended to all participants making them feel like a family coming together in unity.
The highlight of the evening was the introduction of our Theme Song: "537 - He Leadeth Me." This theme would resonate throughout the weekend, reminding us of our purpose and commitment to God. Sister Sindy Mabhena delivered a moving devotion, and we closed the evening with a heartfelt hymn and a closing prayer led by Dorothy.
Sabbath: A Day of Spiritual Nourishment
Saturday began with the Praise Team lifting our spirits early in the morning at 6:00 AM, followed by an opening prayer by Elizabeth Puru. Sister Priscilla then led us in a meaningful Morning Manna session, ensuring we started the day with a strong spiritual foundation.
After breakfast, Sister Beverley facilitated "Flourish Self-Care – Part 1," encouraging us to care for ourselves spiritually and emotionally. Sister Rudo closed the session with a prayer.
The Waterford Church Ladies graced us with their presence, and Sister Sindy delivered an inspiring sermon. Prayer groups were introduced through the Prayer Boxes, fostering a sense of community and shared spiritual growth. The day continued with more sessions and prayers, culminating in a heartfelt closing prayer by Audrey and Sindile.
Sunday: A Day of Reflection and Gratitude
Sunday began much like the previous days, with the Praise Team leading us in worship and a prayer by Sister Shelter. Sister Beverley continued her series on self-care, sharing wisdom and guidance in "Flourish Self-Care – Part 3." As we reflected on our journey, Busi Sibanda-Chijokwe led us in a closing prayer.
After breakfast, it was time to check out, but not before one final gathering to thank the Lord for this blessed retreat. Thoko Magaya led us in prayer, and Sister Sindy shared her insights. Audrey encouraged us to spend a few moments in personal reflection and silence.
As we concluded this spiritually enriching weekend, Sister Lilian Cooper delivered closing remarks, expressing gratitude for the fellowship and spiritual growth experienced. We presented gifts to those who played essential roles during the retreat, showing our appreciation for their dedication.
We closed with our Theme Song: "537" and a final prayer led by Sister Mabhena, feeling blessed and inspired to continue our spiritual journey.
