Last weekend marked a joyous occasion as Pastor Jimmy Botha, accompanied by his wife Cedrene, SM Secretary Hellevi Walker, and lay member Yvonne Bauwens, had the honor of visiting the Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Arkansas, USA, the home church of Betsy Ross, founder of the Thistle Foundation. For many, Betsy's name may sound familiar, and to some she is a dear friend. Betsy's ancestral ties trace back to Scotland and she also resided here for some time. Her affection for the country hasn’t changed over the years and her dedication over the past two decades has resulted in raising an impressive sum of nearly $500,000 for the Scottish Mission! The Thistle Foundation's support played a pivotal role in bringing The Hope House in Dunfermline and the extension of the Crieff Seventh-day Adventist Church to life. In a fitting tribute to Betsy's tireless efforts, the hall was aptly named Ross Hall.
The main purpose of this visit was to thank Betsy in person for the incredible work she has done and to share updates on the progress and impact of the Scottish Mission, which included this 7-minute video of our church in Scotland.
Betsy, together with the members of the Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church, extend their warm greetings to the members of the Scottish Mission. Thanks be to God for the unity we find in Him!
