In a remarkable display of determination and charity, 81-year-old Josiane Jones, a worshipper at the Clacton Seventh-day Adventist Church Plant, has embarked on an inspiring journey during National Walking Month. Throughout the month of May, she has pledged to walk the equivalent of her age in kilometres every week, amounting to an astounding 80-81 kilometres, with 20,000+ steps each day.

Mrs Jones initially decided to lace up her walking shoes to manage her diabetes, maintain good health, and explore her new surroundings after relocating to the area from Ilford, London. A passion for walking, coupled with the desire to contribute to a "good cause" led her to select ADRA (Adventist Development Relief Agency) as the beneficiary of her campaign.

Since the beginning of May, Mrs Jones has been surpassing her weekly goals, clocking an impressive 92.8 kilometres in the first week and 86.75 kilometres in the second. Friends, family, and community members have been moved by Mrs Jones' inspiring initiative and have generously supported her efforts. She has currently raised over £900 of her £1500 target.

In a heart-warming display of love and admiration, Mr Jones' son, Andre Jones, has created a YouTube video dedicated to his mother's remarkable achievement. The video showcases her resilience, determination, and some of the landscapes she has encountered during her walks.

With the remaining time of the challenge, Mrs Jones is determined to maintain her impressive pace, encouraging others to join her in supporting ADRA and making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Supporters can track her progress and contribute to her cause through her JustGiving page, here, where regular updates on her journey are posted.
