Soup Run and a call for help

Soup Run and a call for help

It started like any other Saturday night soup run, but then a commotion. Running. Voices. And a call for help: “Quick Mirela, we need your help!” Mirela Rotaru turned. The urgency in the voice spurred her to move quickly to the group. She immediately recognised the man on the ground. He often came to the soup run. Everyone was talking at once, but she didn’t need to be told the problem. She could see he was having a seizure and had fallen. Fortunately, one of the other youth at the soup run had already called the ambulance. As a nurse, she knew just what to do. Soon the situation was under control. The man was safe. Together they waited for the ambulance to arrive. The soup run staff resumed handing out the soup. Just another night out on the street, being God’s hands and feet to bless those who come to the soup run.
