URGENT APPEAL FOR BEIRUT

URGENT APPEAL FOR BEIRUT

In any normal year, thanks to the ADRA Ingathering Appeal, we would have a fund available to respond to emergencies

Pastor Bert Smit CEO ADRA-UK

I'm sure you are aware of Tuesday's huge explosion that happened in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.  The blast killed at least 135 people, injured more than 4,000 and around 300.000 people lost their homes. Hospitals are overwhelmed and the medical system in Lebanon is poor. The country is challenged by a deep economic crisis, rising unemployment, political instability while also struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic. There are over 1.5 million refugees in Lebanon, principally from Syria, Palestine and Iraq.

ADRA Lebanon is a small office, but well connected in this country.  The ADRA Middle East North Africa (MENA) Regional office is also in Beirut. All the ADRA staff are safe and well although the offices have been damaged by the blast.

The Emergency Management Unit of ADRA International is in touch with the colleagues and the first visual assessment is going on.

In any normal year, thanks to the ADRA Ingathering Appeal, we would have a fund available to respond to emergencies. This year our fundraising has been severely hit due to the pandemic and the lockdown period.

We need your help today to help the people of Beirut! Please make a donation to our emergency response fund now. Your money will help people to rebuild their lives in this broken city.

Please donate following this link to help the people of Beirut:
