Delighted pupils and staff welcomed a member of African Royalty on Friday, 4th October, when the school was visited by Queen Diambi  Kabatusuila Tshiyoyo Muata of the Bakwa Indu of the Democratic republic of the Congo.

Her special visit marked the beginning of a number of events at the school, recently judged good with outstanding elements (Ofsted,2019), to mark Black History Month. During her time at the school she was asked questions by pupils, heard them sing powerfully ‘Our God is a great big God’ and witnessed as they prayed to close off the school week.

In a brief address to the pupils, she encouraged them to realise they too were created to be princes and princesses; to learn in order to develop their skills that they would have an impact on the world. She has recently been featured in a series of activity books aimed at helping children discover more about Black History. The author of the books, Andrew Lindo was also in attendance and also spoke to the children.

Her Royal Highness was also presented by gifts including flowers and a picture of the school family that was taken that very morning!

In return, each child will receive a copy of the activity book featuring her story.

She, and those with her happily posed with, and talked animatedly with pupils, staff and parents for some time, and she has promised to return for a longer visit when her schedule allows.
