Death of Verna Anderson
5th April 2019
We were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs Verna Anderson (née Houston) on 31 March 2019. Verna was born in Bangor, Northern Ireland on 14 April 1933 to Dr and Mrs John Houston. She was one of three siblings. The years spent in Bangor were happy years and the family enjoyed travelling widely both in Ireland and on the Continent during holidays.
Verna went to school in Bangor but her school years were broken by ill-health. After school she attended Queen's University in Belfast and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in December 1954. She graduated from Newbold College in July 1955 having completed a Certificate in Education.
In August 1958 she married Pastor James Ginbey and out of this commitment two daughters and one son was born. They moved around ministering in different places until his sudden death in February 1978. Years later in October 1994 Verna made a commitment of marriage again to Pastor Philip Anderson. Verna is survived by Philip, their five children, Verna's children from her marriage with Pastor Ginbey: Carola, Elaine, Derald; Pastor Anderson's two sons: Graham, David and all of her grandchildren.
Verna was a wonderful servant of God and people and we look forward with her family, to Christ's soon return and that glorious resurrection day.
The funeral service will be held at the Stanborough Park church on Tuesday 23 April at 11:30 am. A donation in lieu of flowers, will be collected at the service in aid of ADRA-UK.
