As President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the UK and Ireland, I would like to give you a warm welcome to our website. As you browse this site I hope that it will give you an insight into the life and ministry of the more than 34,000 Christians who have made this church their spiritual home.
You will also find resources from various church departments, the locations of all our churches and companies, the latest news and events diary, and a picture gallery that traces some of the major events of recent years. You may also be interested in our historical archive, a collection of documents that will take you back to the very origins of the church in this country.
Ours is a very diverse, vibrant and growing church. After visiting these pages I hope that you will also take an opportunity to find a welcome in one of our many congregations. If you need any further information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at this office.
Year End Report
It is rapidly heading not just to the end of 2015, but to the end of the reporting period for the current Quinquennium. That clearly gets the mind working at to what we have achieved over the past four years - and the continued vision for the future.
It's election time... and like me, you may be wondering which way to vote. I do believe that as good citizen's we should vote. We should also think carefully about our choices. In this short, 8 minute interview, I share my rationale for voting and politics - whether a general election or elections coming up within the Adventist Church this summer. [Read More]
A Christmas Message
If you survived the craziness of the black Friday sales you did well. I found myself astonished at how people were desperate to get their hands on televisions -even to the point that people began fighting and cursing one another. That hardly seems to be the spirit of Christmas. Perhaps there is a better way to share that spirit.
In my year-end message, I encourage you to admire the desperation of the paralytic in the Mark 2 story, and how he strived to get into Jesus presence. Perhaps as Christians we ought to exhibit the same passion to be in the presence of Jesus and be desperate to share our testimony of Jesus. There is far more to life than Black Friday bargains.
Seventh-day Adventists believe in Religious Liberty. As such, I was delighted to host the very first 'Free to Worship' Religious Liberty Festival at the Bethel Convention Centre, West Bromwich on 15 - 15 August, 2014. Visit the Religious Liberty page of this website for full reports and videos from the day.
Salt and Light
In February 2014 I met with all our ministers at a Ministerial Council, 'Salt & Light' for three days of inspiration and ideas. You can read more about the Council on this link. To give you a flavour of my vision you can read my keynote address below:
SALT & LIGHT: Tuesday 18 February 2014
When looking at the figures, many of us might think that these are figures we would die for...
Every Sunday, approximately 1 million people attend and participate in Church of England services. Another ¾ of a million people attend other services, I mean how many of our congregations see a Prayer meeting service attendance that is ¾ of the attendance of the Sabbath 11 o'clock service.
Some 3 million people participated in a Church of England service on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve.
The Church of England has the largest following of any denomination or faith in Britain today. More than 4 in 10 in England regard themselves as belonging to the Church of England, while 6 in 10 consider themselves Christian. Read More...
